Pay to win at its worst
If you want to be competitive in this game, be prepared to shell out $30+ weekly to get temporary items to keep up with everyone else who does so. This doesnt even count the hundreds of dollars needed to get the permanent items in the onyx shop, and onyx accumulates so slowly that you will have no hope of getting it all to be competitive without forking over lots of cash. The competitions held regularly are decided by who can spend the most cash and time grinding out battles endlessly to rack up war points, rather than any sort of player skill at all.
The real game here is dodging all of the cash sinks and still being able to find enjoyment from it.
